I started The Art of Making Blog in May 2016. There is an old saying that “every quilt tells a story,” and I believe this applies to more than just quilts. Everything we make tells a story, if not more than one. My blog is a place for me to tell the stories that go along with my personal creations, which usually involve fabric or yarn.
Some projects can be considered successes in that they become what I originally envisioned, while others are best described as learning experiences. I think it is important to show all sides of the creative process because in art, as in life, we build on the entirety of our experiences.
I enjoy the challenge of creating projects that become engaging posts, finding fruitful avenues for promotion, and tracking the visitor metrics. From January through June 2019, my blog averaged a monthly bounce rate of 82.7%. In the first half of 2019, as compared to the previous six months, the proportion of direct sessions increased by 131% and the proportion of organic search sessions increased by 312%.
